Dark Vetiver is not for the faint-hearted. This is a fragrance that makes a statement — dark, smoky, and uncompromising. The opening is a shock: birch tar and smoke, the smell of a fire just extinguished, sharp and slightly acrid. As the smoke clears, vetiver emerges — the Haitian variety, earthy and complex, with a slightly rubbery, almost petroleum-like quality that is deeply compelling. Leather and tobacco in the heart add a masculine, slightly animalic dimension, while the base of oakmoss, labdanum, and musk provides a dark, resinous foundation that lasts for hours.
